Hello, I am a mother of an Autistic 18 year old. Over the past 3 years he has progressively had rounded shoulders and his head is always down. He has difficulty keeping his shoulders back as well as his head up. He had aspiration pneumonia in September which was significant. Just 2 nights ago he had difficulty after he swallowed and it obviously went into his lungs instead of his stomach. He coughed for quite sometime. He weighed 234 pounds in September, and now weighs 195 lbs. after a concerted effort of the gym 4 times a week and sugar free or fat free foods whenever possible.
He also has pain in his muscles of his back and neck where the spasms are visible. He also has numbness and tingling in his left great toe that is painful and alternating down his elbows and hands.
His joints in his wrists, ankles and feet crack. He has to crack them to get relief.
I am very concerned about him and am making another appointment with his pediatrician. He had an XRay and Ct Scan done of his CSpine completed about 1 year ago which were both normal. We love his doctor but realize we must pursue another avenue to get some answers.
Please, tell me where we should start? I feel like everything happening has 1 cause, but no one is looking at the whole picture. Treating each symptom alone is not helping him get better. We just end up with another problem rather quickly.
