About 4 years ago, my Pap smear results came out as abnormal but was told on the phone it could have been due to an inflammation, etc and they didn’t seem too concerned. I was told to have a check up in a year or two. I ended up waiting until a couple of months ago to get a Pap smear again at a different place. My results came back abnormal again. The doctor said he views it as a “low grade” and asked me to come in for a colonoscopy. I had that done last week, and today I got a call from the office and the woman said “the doctor got your results and wants you to come in for a Pap smear in three months”. I asked what this all means (everything’s okay but we need to continue monitoring, results showed something serious, etc etc) but all she said was that her notes from the doctor say to tell me to come in three months. I wanted to get some kind of answer instead of being in the blue and she said “I can ask him but he prob won’t say anything over the phone, if you want to talk about your results make an appointment to come in”. I just wanted to ask in your opinion, what my results are being interpreted as? I’m assuming my results didn’t show anything too serious or else I’d be getting treatment right away? Seems like I’m coming in for a Pap smear in three months so I can be monitored and see if everything goes back to normal on its own? I’m just wondering what the meaning of a Pap smear in three months could indicate since I got no help from the doctor. (This doctors office has always been horrible with the wait time, results time, etc). Your input would be appreciated thanks!
