Head CT Scan Shows Mild Involution Changes. Done Chemo For Breast Cancer. Have Tumor In Lungs. What Does It Mean?

I had a CT Scan of my head just two weeks ago and just got my CT Scan report/CD. In my report it says that I have Mild involutional changes are present . I ve recently had Chemo from Sept. 2012 thru to May 2013. I was diagnosed with Metastatic Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (Breast Cancer, Stage 4), that has subsided. Although, I still have tumors in both lungs and on my liver. I also had Chemo in Aug. 2005 to May 2006 (CHOP Drugs). Back then I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma and was in remission until last year (Sept. 2012). The reason for the CT Scan of my head was due to dizziness, bad foggy brain and irritability. I sure the strong chemos killed a few brain cells, however, I am still here. I was just wondering what the mild involutional changes are present means. Any idea?

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Mild involutional changes in brain means age related mild atrophic changes.
Due to aging there is shrinkage of brain parenchyma so gyri and sulci which are present over the cortex becomes prominent. Due to shrinkage, ventricles also becomes prominent.
You shouldn't worry about mild involutional(atrophic)changes. It is normal.

Take Care
