Having Lump Inside Ear. No Pain. Prescribed Cortizone Cream. Suggestions

My six month old son has lump on the inside of the ear. its not painfull. Its on the top of the ear where it starts to curves. His Dr. thought it could have been an insect bite but it has been there for at least 3 weeks possibly longer. She perscribed a cortizone cream but it did not help. Any suggestions as to what this could be?

Another possibility would be a preauricular cyst or sinus which is a remnant of the development process of the ear during fetal life. These are not painful unless they become infected and unless you really want it removed by a surgeon I'd just ignore it.
