Have Swollen Vein In Hand. Got Blue Lump That Hurts. What Could Be The Cause?

I have a vein that is swollen in the palm of my right hand. I had it for a few days now. It first felt like I pulled a muscle in my hand. Then all of a sudden the vein rises high in my palm about an inch long. It was painful. It went down but now a small blue lump that hurts when I move my hand or touch it.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The blue tender vein in the palm of your hand is likely to be due to a venous inflammation. It is suggestive of thrombophlebitis. Rest, hot fomentation and local anticoagulant gel will help in decreasing the swelling.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
