Have Running Nose And Weird Smell In Throat. Serious? Treatment?

A few days ago I got ill with bronchitis and now I have a running nose. Today I woke up with a weird smell which I noticed while drinking my coffee and now It's just getting worse - I can smell ammonia and taste it all the time. I remember reading a while ago that this could be caused by kidney failures or something like that, but I don't have any burning sensations or any pain.
Is it something I can just treat myself or wait for it to go away? Or could it be serious?

Hi,
Thanks for your query,
I don't think any respiratory problem can cause some ammoniacal smell. Foul smell can be there if there is some anaerobic infection going on. You must look for any dental caries. Or else go for chest X-ray to see whether you are going through any lung abscess or bronchiectasis sort of thing which can be readily cured by a course of antibiotics.
If it comes normal you may just relax and wait for it to go away........

Best wishes
