Have Pain In Thigh. Can It Be A Blood Clot?

I am 49 years old and I woke up with a bruise feeling on the outside of my thigh this morning but there was not incident to account for this. As the morning goes on the pain is increasing and I can not for the life of me bring reason to this and am a little concerned that there might be a blood clot. What could this be?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The pain and bruise in the thigh without any history of injury in the area could be due to a superficial vein inflammation or a blood clot. A direct examination is needed for diagnosis.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
Regards,
Dr. Praveen Tayal
