Have Hard Coughs. Given Butalin Syrup. Is It Fine For Infants? Does It Make The Baby Drowsy?

Hi, my baby daughter is 8 months old. She have been on full mum's milk since born. So far only had running nose several times and she heals the next day. Now she been having hard coughs for the past 2 days and it is not stopping. Went to doctor and was given Butalin syrup. Is Butalin ok for infant as young as 8 months old and does it make the baby drousy? Please advise.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

Butalin contains albuterol which is a short acting bronchodilator which will help in releiving bronchospasm.
Thus it helps in relieving cough.
It does cause any drowsiness as side effect.

I think it is just looks like a usual sleep by your child after suffering tiredness from several bouts of cough.
