Have Genu Valgum. Advised Corrective Osteotomy Femur. Success Ratio?
Hi There I am 26 years old. I height is 5 feet 4 inches & weight is 80 Kilogram.I am suffering from genu valgum. Although in control & I am not taking any pain killers. My Doctor advise me for corrective osteotomy femur . I am little worried by operation. I am looking for details about the operation. Like : What i ssucessfull ratio? When should I plan the same? Corrective osteotomies yield a good clinical outcome but as like anyother surgery, have its own complications. The success rate may be around 95%.
As it is an elective surgery (in your case), you can plan it leisurely.
Corrective osteotomy (for your problem) is permanent.
The osteotomy site takes around 10-12 weeks to unite. So, untill that time you should not bear weight on the operated leg. You can be back to your work once solid bone union occurs.
