Has Mood Swings, Back Pain, Abdominal Pain And Sore Breasts. Takes Ovranette. Is It Effective?

Hi Samuel,

Just having a bit of a pregnancy scare. My girlfriend is due her period this week but she's been having some unusual symptoms associated with pregnancy. No minor spotting, but mood swings, unusual aches and pains in the lower back and abdomen, sore swollen breasts.

I'm worried about her as shes not ready to have a child (mentally). She takes Ovranette and takes it at the same time every night. 11ish. The longest shes strayed from this time is 3 hours and this was a once off.

Realistically, how effective is ovranette in this regard. Have you any idea?

Note she has not missed her period but we will know in a few days.

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

If she took the contraceptive pills as per the schedule, the possibility of pregnancy is very less.
Contraceptive pills can give around 99% protection if taken correctly.
So the symptoms she is having could be due to side effects of the pills.
Possibly they will subside soon after onset of withdrawal bleeding.
If she miss the period once go for pregnancy test.
