Hard, Smooth And Red Lump On The Buttocks Down The Crack, Difficulty In Sitting, Discomfort. What Could This Be?
I have a lump (about the size of a quarter) its somewhat hard and really tender. Its in my buttocks about 2-3 inches down the crack. It hurts to sit down and can be really uncomfortable. Ive asked this before and people told me what it could be but i looked up what they said and it doesn t look like it. The photos are usually scabby. Mine is smooth and just red. what is this?
Noted your history, albeit short and specific. The diagnosis from your history looks to be a Pilonidal Cyst or developing sinus. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult your Doctor for examination and get referred to the General Surgeon for confirmation. If this is an infected Pilonidal sinus then the only treatment option is to get a surgery done at an appropriate time. Remember that this surgery has high recurrence rate hence discuss this issue too with your Surgeon. Till then take an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory medications for symptomatic relief. Sit in a tub with warm water. Do not manipulate or press on it. Take rest to avoid its spread.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant, General Surgeon
