Had Unprotected Oral Sex. Muscle Ache, Mild Fever, Fatigue. Is This A Sign Of HIV?
Hi doctor, male 37 I need your quick response....i had unprotected oral sex and protected vaginal sex with a sex worker. Immediately the next morning i started experiencing muscle aches, mild fever, fatigue...due to which i took analgesic. can this be the sign of HIV? usually does HIV or any STD symptoms start within 6-7 hours >>
Unprotected sexual exposure definitely has risk of getting infected with HIV or any other kind of STDs because their status is unknown and this is risky behaviour.
your muscle ache and fever may be due to some kind of infection viral or bacterial which may or may not be STD, symptoms can start as early as few hours.
In such cases anxiety is there so you need to test for HIV and a negative report will reduce anxiety greatly. You will need to recheck after 3 months to cover window period. You can also go for PCR test of HIV which can detect viral load early.
Please visit a Physician and get tested for necessary tests and if everything is fine please avoid promiscuous behaviour and practice safe sex to protect from STDs and unwanted pregnancies.
Hope this helps. Take care Good Luck. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D
