Had Sex Unprotected. Now Have Soreness, Itching, Burning, Foul Odor, Lower Abdominal Pain. Tiny Cuts. On Cranberry Pills. UTI?

hello I just had sex unprotected about a week ago with a guy I have known for quite sometime. Well within the next day I was experiencing soreness, itching, burning while urinating, foul odor while urinating, lower abdominal pain, and just a general icky ill feeling. But within a few days the symptoms have gone down. I was looking down there and found two very tiny cuts that looked like when you get a paper cut. I also started discharging more and it is milky but not thick or clumpy. I do have a normal odor and checked and do not have anymore soreness or bumps, just the two very tiny cuts. I have been taking cranberry pills because I'm just thinking its a uti. What do you think is going on with me?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Dear Lady,

I am Dr. (Col) R Karanwal, M.D. (Internal Medicine), Consultant Physician, for your assistance.

Thanks for reposing your faith in me and post your query on this website. I fully appreciate your concerns.

From the description provided, you have contacted gonococcal + fungal infection of the vagina/cervix, from your sex partner. This infection has apparently ascended into the urinary system.

Had you visited me in my Clinic for consultation, I- as your treating doctor- would have advised vaginal smear analysis + urine examination/culture to isolate and identify the organisms responsible. Appropriate treatment would have been initiated depending on the reports.

Please feel free to revert back to me in case of further clarifications, if any.

I am confident that you will benefit from the advice.

May I assure you that I am always available for your assistance. My endeavor would always be to give you a sound medical advice, to the best of my knowledge and vast experience.

HAVE A NICE DAY AND A SPEEDY RECOVERY.

Fond Regards,

Dr.(Col) R Karanwal
