Should I Consult A Doctor For Severe Pain In The Upper Arm?

Good evening. I have been having a lot of pain in my upper arm. It feels as if a tendon or a ligament is loose. It hurts when I rotate my arm...not in the shoulder, but in the triceps. Should I see a doctor or give it a few days to see if it gets better. Thank you!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Detailed evaluation is required. As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief. You can apply ice packs for faster recovery. If symptoms persist you can consult an orthopedic and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing all the best.

Thank you.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
