Hello,

Your friend is habitually taking Zolfresh. He should not mix it with alcohol or medications containing alcohol as it may cause diminishing of motor and mental functions. Zolfresh, is Zolpidem a non-benzodiazepine hypnotics. If he is chronically taking it and suddenly stops using it. He might experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. It suggests physical dependence, the drug should not be misused or abused.

Withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, dizziness, insomnia, fatigue, irritability, nausea and vomiting, etc., may cause him discomfort. The best way to minimize withdrawal symptoms is to gradually taper it. Doctors can also prescribe medication and supplements that ease the symptoms of withdrawal. Help your friend get connected to a detox center.

Individuals should be particularly cautious of excessive vomiting or diarrhea, as dehydration and subsequent blood pressure drops can lead to heart failure or cardiac arrest. Therefore, it is important to detox under the supervision of a local medical professional or at a rehab center. Treatment options also include outpatient rehab and aftercare programs.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
