Elderly patient having throat embolism. Will it be treated with lovenox, warfrain?

Hi, I am a pharmacist looking into a case of treating an elderly patient with a throat embolism . She was recently administered Lovenox 80mg and bridged over to warfarin 10mg to assist in dissolving the embolism. I have not been able to find literature supporting this these options as therapy . Have you seen any cases like this before? If so, was this a treatment regimen considered for utilization?

thanks for writing to us ,

i need you to clarify a few things

1. throat embolism : could you be a little more specific here , can i have some more clinical details .
2. how old is the patient , does she have any other co morbidities ? any other illness ?
3. is she taking any other medications /

if there is an embolism of the internal jugular vein ( a large vein in the neck area) .the use of anticoagulant therapy maybe considered. Unfortunately, no studies of sufficient size are currently available to guide clinicians in this area.

if you can be specific on the clinical diagnosis , i would be able to help you to identify the literature .

hope this helps
