Ear Fullness, Blockage, Have Mild To Moderate Hearing Loss. Given Prednisone. Is It Tumor?

Dear,
my problem is, right ear feeling fullness or blocked (no other Symptom, just feeling fullness/ blocked) for 1 week. my ent said ear drum and nasopharynx is normal n no lump or mass. My hearing test is right ear is mild to moderate hearing loss high frequency. Ent give me prednisolone, anti viral, tanakan, betahistine and methycobal for 1 week, but until now morethan 2 weeks no improvement. Please doktor help me, i scary about tumor (acuastic neuroma) or other tumor in my head... tqvm

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Deafness is due to either conductive causes (block in passage of sound waves) or neural deafness (problem with nerves). Block in ears for one week is usually due to foreign body, trauma or infective causes. This has to be investigated properly using hearing tests and otoscopy.

If that is normal, causes in the vestibulocochlear nerve pathway must be evaluated. Acoustic schwannoma is just one of the causes and can be confirmed or ruled out by doing CT scan or MRI scan of brain.
