Done Seminal Fluid Analysis. Increased Viscosity, Abnormal Sperm Forms. Interpretation?
hi doctor.....i want to ask about a seminal fluid analysis if you may interpret it for me and maybe give an advice, the sample was taken from a 30 years old male via masturbation and was delivered to the lab 15 minutes after ejaculation . the color, volume, sperm count and PH are normal. There is increased viscosity, liquifecation time is more than 60 minutes, abnormal sperm forms are 40%, pus cells are 11-12 / HPF

Liquefaction time : semen is a thick gel at the time of ejaculation and normally becomes liquid 20 to 30 minutes after ejaculation. Liquefaction time is a measure of the time it takes for the semen to liquefy.
A long liquefaction time may sometimes indicate an infection. In this case where pus cells are also seen, it is likely that an infection may be present.
Morphology looks at the appearance of the sperm and what percentage are normal or abnormal. The normal result is at least 50 % normal morphology.
In this case where 40 % are abnormal and therefore 60% normal, this would be considered acceptable.
