Does Vomiting Misoprostol Tablets 20 Minutes After Taking Them Make Them Ineffective?

Hi I took 4 misoprostol tablets 2 hours ago and I vomited after 20 mins and I tried to sleep away the cramps. But now the cramps are okay, I was wondering about the effectiveness after vomiting the tablets. I took mifepristone yesterday and I did not vomit it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Before taking Misoprostol tablets you should have taken antiemetics (Domperidone or Metoclopramide). However, if you have vomited Misoprostol within 30 minutes of intake, it is no longer effective, you should have taken another dose.

Get in contact with your treating gynecologist for only mifepristone will work and you may require Misoprostol vagina pills. You should always try to take the medications as prescribed without fault.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
