Does Squatting Has Negative Impact On Height?

Hi, when I was about 14 and 15 I used to do squats occasionally. I noticed it would hurt my lower back right after I would get done with a set. Also I would experience lower back pain from time to time throughout my day. Do you think the squatting had a negative impact on my height growth?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

There is no evidence to suggest that squatting hurts height growth. However, improper form or technique during squatting can result in injury or strain to the lower back muscles and spine. It is important to ensure that you use the proper form and technique when performing any exercise to avoid injury. If you are experiencing persistent lower back pain, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional for proper evaluation and treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
