Hallow Dear, You have a history of regular heavier periods. So spotting during this cycle may be considered as good as missing a period. The brown after spotting could be trickling of some retained old blood. Some times, occasionally spotting to little bleeding at the time of expected menses is known to occur in early pregnancy. This is placental sign. The best way to confirm is by some test to detect pregnancy. You may choose either of the following: 1. Pregnancy test on the overnight morning first urine sample about a week after the missed period (this incidence of spotting). Done earlier, these tests may report false negative. 2. Beta hCG test on blood. This is highly sensitive test. Value above 25 mIU/ml are diagnostic of pregnancy while in non-pregnant state, the values report under 5 mIU/ml.
