Does Smoking Tobacco After A Deep Cleaning Procedure Cause An Infection?

Hi there, I'm sorry to bother you but I need some help. I'm a smoker, of both weed and tobacco, and recently had a deep cleaning procedure done, roughly 13 hours ago. I've been feeling like I'm dying from lack of tobacco, and had a very short , lightly drawn tobacco break last hour.

Am I at risk for a massive infection now? And would it be safer to smoke marijuanna over tobacco, as I read that nicotine constricted blood vessels and reduced healing. Will I have a life threatening risk or be at risk of massive pain if I smoke tobacco, or marijuanna tonight? Also, are there any steps I can take other than warm salt water rinses to prevent infection? Thank you again for all the help!~

Hello,

As per your query, you want to ask for smoking tobacco after dental cleaning procedure which can lead to infection and inflammation of mucosa and can cause minor damage to peripheral nerve endings due to massive instrumentation.

I would suggest you to visit dentist once and get complete examination done again if any complications occur.

Apply ice cold packs on affected area. Take muscle relaxant medication and diet rich in vitamin B12. Go for nicotine replacement therapy if actual craving occurs. Maintain complete hygiene.

Avoid intake of any such substances as your symptoms will reoccur and can leads to inflammation of whole teeth area.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
