Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m curious to what could be causing this but my brother has had several episodes where he can t breathe in the morning lately....he feels like there is something in his lungs (infection/mucus/or something else). Drs are treating him for breathing problems or pneumonia or allergies. Every day it s getting worse and the ER said he just needs to stop smoking. Any thoughts?
Hi, you have not mentioned the detail history of illness of your brother in the present context. It may be allergic phenomenon which may be aggravated by smoking. In case of infection, fever, cough with sputum and weakness are common. Bronchospasm may occur on account of stimulation from various factors. Get pulmonary function test done along with chest X-ray and blood work to rule out infection. Till then nebulize him with levosalbutamol under physician's advice along with lung exercises.
