Does Severe Gastritis Cause Flaky Stools?

Hello, I am a 54 y.o. RN and have been suffering with my GI since November. I had a EGD in Feb and have gastritis . Not getting any better. I actually found what looks like Flukes a month ago in the commode after I had BM. My PCP told me it could not be that. So I am going to see a GI MD on Wednesday. What should I tell him? How can I make someone help me?

Hi,

Noted the history about a Registered Nurse having gastritis on Upper GI Endoscopy but not getting any better, looks like flakes in stool in commode, PCP told no relation with gastritis.
Surely, consulting a Gastroenterologist is the best idea,
But it will help to have the tests o blood, stool and urine beforehand, Ultrasonography and other investigations.
Stool tests in details, including that of H.pylori.
The most probable cause may be entero-colitis and gas forming bacterial overgrowth and so on,
May also need Colonoscopy.
All thee will help to get the cause and get treated accordingly.
Take probiotics.
Identify the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems.
Drink boiled for 20 minutes and cooled water.
Rest of the treatment for Gastritis and related problems as per the advise of your Gastroenterologist.
Avoid stress and anxiety as these add on to the problems of gastritis for sure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
