Does Penicillin Cause Any Affect On ITP?
male, 30 yr old., wt 55kg,ht 160cm...i was diagnosed itp early January...now on steroid treatment..last week my platlet drop to 37000....my problem is,yesterday i got job at pharmaceutical factory.and they need me to do test for penicillin...is penicillin effect for my itp? can i work in factory produce peniccil drug? hope u can help me..tq

ITP is an autoimmune disorder caused by viral infection most commonly.
A large number of cases do not have any definite cause.
ITP responds to steroids.
Penicillin will not have any effect on the course of ITP, however, it can cause depression of bone marrow and thus reduction in bone marrow.
Penicillin is not knowm to have such an effect, however, idiosyncratic effect or unexpected effects can occur.
Get your platelet levels checked regularly.
