Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
does low blood volume cause high blood pressure?A little over a year ago I lost 4 pints of blood due to a slow oze. Several days ago, I became dizzy when I stood up; repeated that symptom last night. B/P last night (sitting in bed) was 150/77. Retook on other arm and it was 155/77; pulse 72. I am wondering if I might have another blood loss. First time there were no noticeable symptoms and no blood in my stool. Found out at routine Dr. appointment. I have a large hyatial hernia and scleroderma in remission for 27 years.Sorry, don t like to post my credit card online.
Low blood volume does not cause high BP. You slightly high readings of BP are very unlikely to be related to the year back unfortunate accident. Your readings of BP are not too high and in such patients we generally monitor BP for some times wit life style modifications like to loose weight and do exercise and reduce salt intake.
However if you feel dizzy you should see your doctor to assess you for possible cause. As blood loss can cause dizziness. Hope I have answered your question. I will be glad to answer any further question about this.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
