Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have cardiomyopathy with an EF of 30 & have been in congestive heart failure numerous times for over 10 years. I stopped taking Corey because I feel it was causing me to lose muscle strength in my back & also causing incontinence. Is this common after taking Coreg for so long?
you are concerned that taking Coreg has caused you weakness and bladder incontinence. Coreg is a beta blocker and with any beta blocker they can cause general weakness and fatigue. This will get better after 1-2 weeks after stopping the medication.
The big risk though is stopping the Coreg without your doctors permission or knowledge. The medication helps prevent congestive heart failure and without the Coreg you may develop heart failure again. Repeated episodes of heart failure will cause more heart damage and will reduce your life expectancy. Please contact you doctor so they can give you options for your heart failure.
