Does Lack Of Oxygen To Brain Cause Body Shivers?

Hi Doctor, I have had a cough for over six weeks now. I did see my family doctor and am taking antibiotics and steroids.. My question is: why does parts of my body shake after? is it due to lack of oxygen to the brain?? Is this something to be concerned about??

Hello friend
I have read your query with great interest and will try to help you

First, I dont think that the shaking of the hands is due to the lack of oxygen, not in your case that is. The lack of oxygen can cause shivering and more commonly seizures. But in your case it is unlikely to be due to lack of oxygen.

You have had cough for 6 weeks. Now that is a very important symptom and you should get an x ray of the chest and sputum examination (AFB) tested as soon as possible.
This is important because you may have been developing the symptoms due to tuberculosis. So it would be essential to rule out this symptom.

I also feel that the long illness may have affected your diet. So if you are eating less, there is a possibility that the symptoms are due to the lack of food, and a generalized weakness.

So I would suggest eat well. And get the tests
Let us know the tests so we can help you better

Best of luck
