Does Intake Of Iron Supplements Cause Foul Smell In Stool?

Dr. Rynne, I am a physician as well... a patient has asked if iron supplements can cause foul smelling stool. He is taking for prior GI bleed with low H&H... but I don t think that s his problem now... I ve tried to find the answer to this but am having trouble... Thanks, Keith Byler, DO.

Iron supplement may cause mild foul smell stool with black color .....

That depend on rout of iron tablate ...
More gastric problem occur if iron tablate taken by oral rout....

Take high fiber food to avoid gastric problem and drink more water...
Eat fresh green vegetable also....
