Does Intake Of Prevacid And Macrobid Cause Burning Sensation In Mouth And Stomach?

I have taken Prevacid and omeprazole for 15 years .i recently took macrobid 3 mo ago and for 3 mo developed extreme pain and nausea to the point I couldn t eat ,also extreme burning of the mouth and stomach after calling and going to doctors I got no answers .i found out yesterday after talking to people and praying hard for help. That the generic Prilosec could be the culprit ,not the macrobid I took 3 months ago ,I almost went to the Er yesterday ,when I read the side effects of the omeprazole and spoke to a few people I discovered that I need to stop this medication ,I didn t take it today and still have a Lille burning and pain ,but I can feel I m getting better.im going to need to replace the omeprazole,I was told Zantac can replace it without the bone fracture side effects.is that so can I use Zantac over the counter .i am allergic to pepto bismo

Hello,

I can understand your concern. You have followed the correct path and have dome all the correct things. As stopping Omeprazole is helping you in reducing the burning sensation in mouth and you are already feeling better, it will be fine soon.

As you have been rightly informed, Zantac can replace Omeprazole for heartburn and GERD. In addition, it is Histamine-2 blocker, which you are not allergic to. It has no severe side effects on bones, too. So you can switch to Zantac and see if it helps you.
