Does Intake Of Levothyroxine Cause Irregular Menstruation?
Hello, I am 27 years old Female and I am already one week late on my periods. I have hashimito thyroid disorder disease for which I am taking Levothyroxine and recently 1 week before my scheduled period, I started Paleo diet with no carbohydrates (no rice, wheat, corn etc.).Do you think this can affect my periods ?
The main causes of menstrual changes are thyroid problems. Possibly you are having increased dosage of levothyroxine. You may need to consult your gynecologist for it. Changes in diet and weight changes may cause irregular periods too.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
