Does Having Frequent Protected Oral Sex Cure Tonsillitis?

Hello! I was wondering this: I have tonsillitis but my girlfriend thinks that having protected oral sex would prevent the chances of her getting an infection. I know that it is risky to perform any kind of sexual activity while having an infection, but I want to confirm if it will not be possible for her to get infected after using dental dam while performing oral sex.

Hi,

As per your complain, yes it is very true that using protected method of oral sex can reduce the chances of your partner to get infected, in case if you are having tonsillitis, but still there can be some probability of getting infection if you come in contact with saliva.. So the best way to avoid infection is to avoid sexual contact till the symptoms resolve.

I would suggest you to consult an ENT physician and get proper evaluation and throat swab culture done to rule out the cause and get treated for the infection with antibiotics like Azithromycin, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and also do warm saline gargles and steam inhalations. Avoid spicy foods. Once the infection clears you can proceed with fellatio.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
