My son has an ear infection and my sitter tonight told me she thinks he is deaf! should i be on my way to the hospital or am i over reacting to what she said? my son is 17 months and has had an earinfection, sometime in both ears, for about a month and a half now. we are seeing the ENT on monday.
An ear infection may sometimes cause a temporary or reversible hearing loss. This generally occurs because the infection blocks sound from passing through the ear canal.
If you suspect about hearing the loss of your son you should go to the emergency room. Meanwhile, you should give your son anti-inflammatory syrup such as Tylenol.
