Hi Dear, Welcome to HCM. Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of drainage into the throat with blood in cough which is due to severe upper respiratory tract infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do gargles with warm saline water , drink plenty of fluid to keep your self hydrate , take ibuprofen (if not allergic ) or acetaminophen for pain and inflammation and take over the counter antihistamine like benadryl. You should avoid intake of outside food. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages as well. Avoid hot, sharp , spicy food substances and carbonated beverage If symptoms persist or get worse then you should consult ENT specialist for proper examination and to rule out conditions like acid reflux and bacterial infection. Doctor may order blood test or throat swab test to confirm diagnosis. He/she may prescribe decongestants , antibiotics/antiviral depending upon your condition . Hope your concern has been resolved.
