Does digesting a steak increase blood pressure?

The other day I had prime rib at Black Angus. Then shortly after I was shopping at Target and decided to try out the free blood pressure machine. It read pretty high, about 150/90. Could this be related to having eaten the steak or should I be concerned about being hypertensive? I normally don t eat steaks or beef in general, usually have chicken. And my dad does have high blood pressure so it runs in the family but I am only 25.

You are already predisposed to hypertension on heritage basis, there could have been an acute rise in BP as your reading tells me. Age nowadays is no factor for a disease to come out of the blue, due to change in modern life style, lack of mobility, stress, alcoholism etc. Kindly have yourself checked out for any underlying cause.

I went for an unpleasant smear test last week and after it my blood pressure reading was 140/90. I was asked to return this week for another blood pressure and this week it was 164/82. The nurse said if the one next week is raised I will have to have further tests. Why would my blood pressure be raised it has always been ok before. Last reading march this year. I am 47 years old, non smoker, 10st in weight, 5 foot 6 height

Hi I have a BP monitor at home . Right now my reading is 130/86. I have a Bicuspic valve. Today I have been put on a low dose of BP medication after my clinic measured my BP at 151/113. This was taken immediately on arrival at the clinic after walking from the car park and a rather stressfull car journey. Am I right to be concerned about the starting medication on this evidence? .. I have recently had my personel BP monitor calybrated ..AGE 50 thank you

My father has multiple myeloma. he s on his third month of the BiRD treatment right now with Revlmid, biaxin and dexamethazone. his BP has been low this week and tonight has dropped to 101/53. he s weak and can t keep his eyes open and has sever leg cramps. He s been fairly active since on the treatment since this particular regimen can cause blood clots. He s coherent and not dizzy at all. we can t get him to drink much, but we are thinking maybe the low bp is due to dehydration. we can t get ahold of his doctor or nurse right now. should we worry? is there anything we can do to make it come up?
