Does Diazepam Cause Any Fetal Malformation?

I also took one 5mg diazepam during my third week of pregnancy before I know I was pregnant. I am worried sick that I exposed my child to this drug at a critical stage of their development. Will my baby be okay (no malformations, or mental disorders) because I only took one pill? Is there a test I can take to test for malformations from diazepam?

Hi,
Thanks for writing..
Any medication taken before 4 weeks has all or none rule. It means it might cause abortion or result in normal baby. Only between 5-12 weeks congenital malformation. Main adverse effect of diazepam include floppy baby syndrome due to improper development of muscles. This occurs when medication is taken after 12 weeks. So you need not worry. Hope I have answered your query. Good day.
