Does Dental Anesthesia Cause Allergic Reactions?

Is it possible to have an allergic reaction to the anesthesia used by my dentist? Coincidentally I have been having chronic diarreah since i started going to the dentist. Doctors cannot find what's wrong with me, liver is fine, no parasites o signs of food poisoning. No fever, either. For a week I was getting better but I returned to the dentist for some work 3 days ago and yesterday the diarreah came back. How long is the drug going to stay in my body and if there is nothing else wrong with me' what is causing it? It is a mistery illness. What can I do to detox? Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in.

were you on any antibiotic medication. sometimes antibiotics can cause antibiotic induced diarrhoea. I would advise you to take a course of probiotics like lactobacilli etc. Include yoghurt in your diet.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Warm Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
