General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Excess straining at stool can cause exacerbation of cardiorespiratory symptoms and one of which is breathlessness.

But the underlying issue of a cardiac problem apart from GI, must be ruled out as many of the cases of silent myocardial infarction do present in ER as this manner only.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
