Does Cold And Fever Trigger An Epileptic Seizure?

My son has a seizure disorder and he has been having one about every 9 months but in the last month he has had two lasting about 20 to 30 seconds. Both times he had been exposed to sickness like a cold or somebody running a fever. Can that trigger a seizure in my son.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Fever is a known precipitating factor for seizures. In children below 6 years, seizures aggravating with fever may be due to febrile seizures. You should get evaluated by a neurologist or pediatrics.
