Hi I got a really bad leg cramp a week ago in the middle of the night. It went away but now my foot has been tingling. The Tingling went away, but now my calve feels very hot internally not on the surface. Went to the doctors and they ruled out a blood clot, but I m very uncomfortable.
You had bad leg cramp, it went away leaving a tingling associated with calves feeling hot internally. You have not mentioned if you have varicose vein or venous insufficiency. Tingling in the legs may be indicative of peripheral artery disease, fibromyalgia, MS, etc., and they can be triggered by diabetes. If diabetic control your blood glucose level.
A blood clot in a leg vein may cause pain, warmth and tenderness in the affected area. Deep vein thrombosis occurs when a blood clot (thrombus) forms in the deep veins like in the legs. DVT can cause leg pain or swelling, but can occur with no symptoms. You can get duplex ultrasonography done, it is an imaging test that uses sound waves to look at the flow of blood in the veins. It can detect blockages or blood clots in the deep veins.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
