Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have pain from front of my hip radiating down my thigh to my knee then goes to the back of my knee. Some numbness and tingling in my feet. I am diabetic, non insulin. X-rays show some arthritis in my hip but lumbar spine aappears normal. Could it be a blood clot?
The pain you are explaining, hip pain radiating down the thigh and then the knee and causes numbness and tingling as well, it typical of nerve-related pain. Sciatica is a possible cause and this is due to the nerve being pinched when coming out of the spine or on the way down to the leg. Treatment is with pain killers (ibuprofen and paracetamol/codeine), local warm and cold compresses on the back, and physiotherapy. Patients should also try to keep active as much as possible (bed rest is not recommended as it makes it worse).
I hope this answers your query and is helpful to you. Let me know if I may assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
