Does Black Runny Stool Need Immediate Medical Attention?

I have rheumatoid arthritis and have been trying a new approach. I ve been on a clean diet for the past few weeks, meaning no meat or dairy. I grilled a rib eye last night and today have extremely black, runny stool. No cramping. I feel an overall malaise. Should I be concerned?

Hello There

After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that black stool can be there if you are taking iron supplements or loosing blood from digestive system. If you are not taking any iron supplements then get a CBC , Serum Ferritin and still for occult blood done and consult a physician with reports for further treatment.

Hopefully this information will guide you properly.

Kind Regards
Dr Bhanu Partap
