Does A Swelling On The Buttock Post An Injury Need Medical Attention?

I fell down my stairs and landed really hard on my butt. I landed right of my tailbone. I know I didn t break anything, but I still have a huge swelling. I have compared it to feeling like I have a water balloon on my upper butt. Is this going to get better or do I need medical attention?

Hi,

There is the probability of hematoma or blood collection, for which you should get it checked once. There is a risk of infection within it. Also, it's important you get your X-ray done in order to rule out the possibility of fracture. This may resolve with time but should get checked. If started getting fever then it suggests infection and warrants antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sagar Makode,
