Does Vyvanse Cause Dry Mouth With Sores On Tongue?

Hi, I m a 35 year old woman that is on Vyvanse70mg.This is one time a day. I m also on Wellbutrin but I have been on this for over a year. I m experiencing a lot of dry mouth. This I expected but I seem to be getting some sores on the end of my tongue. The best way to explain it is like I just drank a scalding cup of water. The pain and tenderness is present all the time. I have difficulty eating due to pain. The Vyvanse dose was recently increased. I m wondering if these symptoms generally pass or should I consider having my doctor decrease my dose? My ADD symptoms we much better so it s a little frustrating...

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your health concerns. ..

As per your complain the Medication that you are taking like Vyanase and Wellbutarin both causes dry mouth and as you have got an increase in the dose of Vyanase this has got a further additive effect over the dryness of mouth and due to dryness there is atrophy and inflammation of the tongue mucosa and the condition is known as GLOSSITIS and due to inflammation there is formation of Ulcers on the sides of tongue .
The best way to treat the condition is to treat the underlying cause and the best thing you can do is to consult your treating physician and discuss the problem and if possible he should reduce the dose of the medicines..
As of now you should do warm saline gargles..
Gargle with cold water and sucking ice pops will help in reducing Inflammation and ease the pain..
You should take SALIVA SUBSTITUTES containing Methyl Cellulose that are available in the form of drops which can be instilled in mouth frequently to reduce dryness..
Saliva stimulants like sugar free chewing gums can help in stimulating saliva flow..
You can apply numbing gel like Oragel over the sores for relief especially during eating..
Apply Steroid based ointment like Kenalog in Orabase for reducing inflammation..
For pain OTC painkiller like Ibuprofen can also be taken..
Drink plenty of water..
Avoid hot and spicy food to prevent irritation..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
