Does Q-dryl Make An Infant Drowsy?

Hello, My son was given 8mL of Amoxicillin for his ear infection at 8, 8:30ish, And not knowingly knowing what he s allergic to quite yet. He had a small allergic reaction to peanut butter that I had earlier (breastfeeding), And gave him 2.5 mL of Q Dyrl at 9:30ish to prevent spreading and hives like before from an unknown reaction. My question is, Will he be more drowsy than usual or is he okay?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Yes Q – dryl contains diphenhydramine which causes drowsiness and sedation. This effect is seen in almost all patients taking diphenhydramine. This effect is dose – dependent. Higher dose causes more sedation. It is totally a reversible side effect. If you stop Q – dryl, sedation and drowsiness will go after few hours.
Advice
1.     You can use it but only under medical supervision and recommendation because it can also cause respiratory depression at higher dose.
Thanks
