General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Primolut N contains a hormone known as norethisterone. This type of hormone is similar to the natural female hormone progesterone which is not only barred in pregnant women but also among those who are not using any contraceptive method that is unprotected sexual activities. However the chances of malformations in the fetus are exceedingly small. No more than 0.99%.

Before giving Primolut N, it is mandatory to test for pregnancy since it is not allowed to be given during pregnancy. One can continue with pregnancy but it will be necessary to undergo periodic, regular ultrasound test at short intervals to monitor the development of the baby as a precaution.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
