Does Noriday Cause Weight Gain?

Hi I take 2 noriday pills a day as advised by my doctor. I weigh over 11stone. Is this normal? I also was wondering the chances of me becoming pregnant. I take the pills at 8am every day. I do not get periods so cant tell from being late. I used to bleed occasionally when I was last sexually active. But since becoming sexually active more recently Ive not bled since our first time together. Should I be worried?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Noriday is a hormonal contraceptive having progesterone derivative. Irregular bleeding or no periods and weight gain is a usual side effect of the drug. Still bleeding after sex demands check-up by a gynecologist to exclude certain conditions like cervical problems, polyps to be treated as per need.

Weight gain can be controlled by lifestyle changes like diet control, exercises, keeping stress and tension free. When you are taking it regularly at the same time of the day. There is no chance of pregnancy. You would be fully protected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
