Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have PCOS and have found out I am pregnant very early 4 weeks approx. Last year I suffered 2 miscarriages so you can imagine my worry this time round. I have done research and can see PCOS can cuase recurrent miscarriages. I have seen that some sufferers take Metformin as this reduces the risk of early miscarriage. I am not currently on Metformin and wanted to know if this could possibly be an option for me. Am really worried I will miscarry again and want to do all I can to help myself
Hi, I think you should not start any medicines by yourself. Metformin helps in reducing miscarriages but there are certain criteria for starting. It is a hypoglycemic drug. So, you should check your sugar levels. You can take some other medicines like ecospirin and some progesterone supplements for avoiding miscarriages. Discuss with your doctor regarding this.
