Does Melatonin Cause Itching Sensation All Over The Body?
I recently started taking melatonin to relax and sleep better. It’s the only new med. I’m taking, except for the probiotic from BlueBiotics which does help with my IBS! I’m 92, and I good health otherwise. BUT I now have severe itching....could it be Melatonin that’s causing the terrible itching everywhere on my Poor old bod ?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You need to consult your doctor for a clinical assessment, as melatonin is relatively safe and don't cause Itchy skin except in very rare situations. Your doctor will prescribe the suitable treatment which might include: oral antihistamines, topical drugs to relieve itching or maybe injections in severe cases.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Abed Tahrawi
