Hello,

Medrofen (Medroxyprogesterone acetate) is commonly used in the treatment of irregular menses and conditions associated with it. Its common side effects include a headache, abdominal pain, acne, weight gain, breast pain or tenderness, and menstrual changes.

It is not known to cause any harmful effects on the kidneys.

Medrofen contains only one hormone progestin (Medroxyprogesterone) whereas and contraceptive pills contain both estrogen and progestin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

General & Family Physician Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali's  Response
Hello,

It's not known to affect the kidneys. Medrofen is a progestin (a form of progesterone) commonly prescribed used to treat absent or irregular menstrual periods, or abnormal uterine bleeding due to hormonal imbalance.

It's also an effective and safe form of injectable contraceptive. Its common side effects include spotting or breakthrough bleeding, changes in your menstrual periods, breast tenderness, headache, dizziness, feeling nervous or depressed, acne, bloating sensation, fluid retention, and weight gain.

It's not known to affect the kidneys. Contraceptive pills are given orally and they main contain either progesterone alone or in combination of estrogen (combined oral contraceptive).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
